Specifically the interesting whole wrecked old car at the bottom of a hill on the upper part of the mine... Where did you find so much in-depth info? This blog says more about the mine and its history than just about every other article or entry about Apex Mine or Jarvis Peak that I can Google!

Super fun blog, by the way. Hoping you keep it up.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05516487455085619589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-142776272522398720.post-60642307805501763132013-03-14T11:09:34.446-07:002013-03-14T11:09:34.446-07:00My father, John Raymond Kemple leased and operated...My father, John Raymond Kemple leased and operated the Apex mine in the 1940's. I believe it was owned by Emerald Cox at the time. I was only 11 yrs old when my father took me to the very bottom of the main shaft. I believe it was 900 feet down. They were shipping copper ore, but there was always other minerals mixed in. Sometimes a bit of silver and even some gold, lead, and zinc. I sometimes went to the mine and hunted rabbits while the miners worked.Jim Kemplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04704438333254820406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-142776272522398720.post-85426909533441239982013-01-16T22:14:18.313-08:002013-01-16T22:14:18.313-08:00I just wanted to add to the Germanium and Gallium ...I just wanted to add to the Germanium and Gallium stuff. I work with it on a daily basis at my work. The Apex mine only got just over 2,000 Kilograms of Germanium. I go through that much in just over 2 months. It was the Gallium that is impressive. They pulled out almost 4,000 grams of it! This is the big ticket item. It would take almost 2 years to go through that much Gallium.
China is the bully. They are the leading supplier of most rare earth metals! They like to control the pricing of the market, which is the sole reasoning behind buying and closing the mine.
Anyways, Great blog! Keep up the good work!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11866339569128467846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-142776272522398720.post-38877685336569331372012-07-01T20:42:17.349-07:002012-07-01T20:42:17.349-07:00I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!
